Radouane
The person behind the hike
The mountains are home.
My name is Radouane. I was born and raised in Imlil, in the heart of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains.
My connection with the mountains began early. I grew up following in the footsteps of my grandfather and father, both mountain guides. From them, I learned the trails, the landscape and the rhythms of life in these valleys — as well as a deep respect for the mountains and the communities that call them home.
Guiding became more than a profession. It became a way of life. Whenever I am not guiding, I am still drawn to the mountains — hiking, skiing and mountain biking. Being out there has shaped the way I guide and the way I experience the High Atlas.
For me, a mountain experience is about more than reaching a summit. It is about understanding the landscape, meeting the people who live here and having the time to appreciate the journey.
Talamrout is one of those journeys. From Imlil and the surrounding villages to the high ridgeline and the summit at 2,620 metres, this is a mountain day I am proud to share with people visiting my home.
See you in the mountains.
